Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of History at the College, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a scientific seminar entitled “The U.S. Containment Policy and Its Continued Application in International Relations from the Cold War to Contemporary Middle East Crises” on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
The seminar aimed to shed light on the concept of U.S. containment policy and its historical roots, as well as to examine the mechanisms of its application during the Cold War period. It also analyzed the continuity of this policy in addressing contemporary international crises, particularly in the Middle East. Furthermore, the seminar sought to enhance participants’ academic understanding of international strategies and their political and economic impacts on the global system.
The seminar addressed several key themes, including the theoretical and practical dimensions of containment policy and its implications for international relations. It also presented analytical models of major regional crises, in addition to opening the floor for discussion among participants to exchange scholarly perspectives and promote critical thinking.
