College of Education for Human Sciences, in Cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education, Organizes a Scientific Symposium Entitled “The Concept of Rumor and Its Impact on University Environments – A Sharia Perspective”

Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Prof. Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Prof. Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education, in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education, held a scientific symposium on Sunday, October 26, 2025, entitled “The Concept of Rumor and Its Impact on University Environments – A Sharia Perspective.”

The symposium was managed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Aqeel Abdul-Majeed Saeed, Prof. Dr. Saad Fathallah Omar, Lect. Dr. Noor Saad Hammoud, and the postgraduate student Waleed Muhyidi Saleh. It aimed to present the scientific and conceptual foundations of rumors, identify their forms and means of dissemination, and explore their social and psychological effects, as well as methods of countering and combating them.

The symposium concluded with several key recommendations, including:

  1. Enhancing intellectual and media awareness among students and faculty members.
  2. Integrating the concepts of intellectual security and the dangers of rumors into educational curricula.
  3. Establishing a university unit or committee to monitor and track rumors within the academic environment.
  4. Activating student awareness campaigns and university media initiatives to promote the concept of confronting and rejecting rumors.
  5. Encouraging scientific research and academic studies in the field of intellectual security.

The Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Prof. Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, expressed his appreciation to the faculty members of the Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education for organizing such fruitful and meaningful scientific events.
