A master’s thesis entitled “Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Political Role in Bahrain up to 1999” was discussed at the College of Education for Human Sciences, Department of History, on Sunday, 28 December 2025, by the graduate student Falah Amer Khalaf.
Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa was raised in a long-established royal environment and received an Islamic and linguistic education in both Arabic and English. He later completed his education and administrative training in Britain, which contributed to shaping his leadership personality and preparing him for engagement in institutional work. He clearly supported his country’s independence, considering it a fundamental step toward consolidating national sovereignty. He participated in consultations and efforts aimed at ending the British presence and led the process of diversifying national income sources to reduce dependence on oil. He also worked on developing vital sectors such as industry, services, and finance, and led extensive housing, health, and educational projects. Moreover, he supported the establishment of industrial cities to transform Bahrain into a modern state equipped with the essential infrastructure necessary for economic and social growth.
